Our commitment to sustainable tourism

Sustainable tourism in Camping Les Templiers

Due to our proximity to the Mercantour National Park and the Natura 2000 area of Roquebillière, it was important to us to involve Camping Les Templiers into an ecological approach in order to promote sustainable tourism in the Vésubie valley.

Since the campsite change of owner in 2023, numerous actions have been carried out in this direction. These actions could be realised thanks to the support of the European project “First Mile Project“, whose main objective is to encourage, without constraint, tourists to opt for more ecological and more sustainable choices during their stay in the valley of the Vésubie.

Renewable energies

Because all energies are precious, at Camping Les Templiers we ensure that they are used reasonably.

Local products

Sustainable tourism involves promoting local artisans and producers. This is why, in our grocery store you will find many ORGANIC products made by valley producers.

Waste management

While waste management is one of the main ecological challenges for campsites, since 2023 Camping Les Templiers has drastically reduced its waste through numerous measures.

Animals are our friends

At the campsite we are also committed to animal welfare in order to avoid abandonment during holidays, whether through charitable aid to animal associations and by allowing you to come and camp with your little companions.

Solidarity actions

Sustainable tourism is also synonymous with exchanges, tolerance, open-mindedness and conviviality.  As a campsite, we play a vital role in encouraging these exchanges and building great human relationships.

Alternative transportation

In our campsite with the “Accueil Vélo” (Bikes Welcome) label we promote the use of alternative transport (bus, carpooling, cycling, walking), whether to come to the campsite or to move around the valley during your stay.

Renewable energies

Because all energies are precious, at Camping Les Templiers we ensure that they are used reasonably through different actions:

  • timers in bathrooms and contactors in rental properties
  • solar lighting in the campsite aisles
  • installation of pressure reducers, ecological shower heads and aerators in faucets
  • collection and storage of rainwater for watering plants
  • replacement of small heaters in rental properties with less energy-consuming equipment
  • limitation of amperage on pitches to limit excessive electricity consumption

Local products

Sustainable tourism in the Vésubie valley involves promoting local artisans and producers. This is why, in our grocery store you will find many organic products made by valley producers.

  • sorbets and ice creams
  • honey, compotes and jams
  • lemonades
  • beers
  • fresh vegetables (on reservation)

Waste management

While waste management is one of the main ecological challenges for campsites, since 2023 we have drastically reduced our waste through the following actions:

  • replacement of disposable bedding with washable mattress pads
  • provision of reusable maintenance kits in rentals
  • use of washable and reusable tableware for breakfast
  • limitation of trash bins and encouragement of recycling

Animals are our friends

We love animals, and we love your animals.

As a campsite, we play a main role in encouraging these exchanges and building great human relationships.

Because we are deeply convinced that everyone has the right to benefit from a vacation, the campsite participates in various solidarity actions in this sense, whether through the VACAF label or through the acceptance of vacation vouchers.

Alternative transports

The use of the car for leisure and vacations is one of the main causes of CO2 emissions in France.

In our campsite with the “Accueil Vélos” (Welcome Bikes) label we promote the use of alternative transport (bus, carpooling, cycling, walking), whether to come to the campsite or to move around the valley during your stay.

We are also equipped with an electric cart in order to limit not only CO2 emissions but also noise pollution within the campsite.

Finally, our (fast) electric charging station allows all campers to easily and simply recharge their electric vehicle during their stay.

Our projects

For the years to come, we plan the following changes:

  • re-vegetate the campsite with hedges and trees
  • increase rainwater collection and create a redistribution network for plants
  • reduce energy costs by installing photovoltaics
  • enhance existing assets by focusing on renovation and upcycling
  • improve services for hikers, cyclists and motorcyclists
  • improve services for pet owners with the establishment of a litter area and a babysitting service to enjoy hikes in Mercantour
  • offer more local products in our grocery store

Tell us, does sustainable tourism mean something to you?
